چکیده

Introduction: Polishing after scaling and root planing provides a smoother tooth surface improves patient convenience. Recently, novel polishing system using the air-driven high-pressured device is introduced, but advantage over conventional still questionable. This article aims to provide comprehensive literature study regarding dental by comparing roughness air systems. To conduct this review, Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines were followed. Studies published before November 29th, 2019 systematically reviewed under “air-polishing”, “enamel roughness”, “conventional polishing”, “scanning electron microscopy” “10 years” publication dates files with PubMed Google Scholar database. Review: Dental assists removal of plaque stains achieve healthy periodontal tissue. The air-polishing cleans deeper minimal damage on enamel, efficacy depends handpiece degree angulation enamel surface, time exposure, powder particle size used. takes shorter working easy handle compared polishing. Prophylaxis paste in abrasive, hence flattening surface. Conclusion: Both techniques show procedures, nevertheless devices.

Air polishing: a review of current literature.

PURPOSE Routine tooth polishing continues to be an integral part of clinical practice even though the concept of selective polishing was introduced in the 1980s. This procedure assists in the removal of stains and plaque biofilm and provides a method for applying various medicaments to the teeth, such as desensitizing agents. Use of traditional polishing methods, i.e. a rubber-cup with prophyla...

Superficial roughness on composite surface, composite enamel and composite dentin junctions after different finishing and polishing procedures. Part I: roughness after treatments with tungsten carbide vs diamond burs.

UNLABELLED The aim of this study is to investigate different instruments for finishing composite restorations, as well as examining different surfaces and interfaces of the same restoration. The null hypothesis is represented by the fact that there are no significant differences on roughness of composite restorations finishing between tungsten carbide and diamond burs, furthermore the null hypo...

Surface roughness of composite resins after finishing and polishing.

This study evaluated the effect of surface finishing methods on the average surface roughness of resin composites. Seven composites and two polishing systems were used. One hundred and twenty-six conical specimens of each material were prepared in stainless steel molds against a polyester strip. Forty-two of them remained intact and were used as controls. Each half of the remaining samples was ...

Atomic force microscopy in vitro study of surface roughness and fractal character of a dental restoration composite after air-polishing

BACKGROUND Surface roughness is the main factor determining bacterial adhesion, biofilm growth and plaque formation on the dental surfaces in vivo. Air-polishing of dental surfaces removes biofilm but can also damage the surface by increasing its roughness. The purpose of this study was to investigate the surface damage of different conditions of air-polishing performed in vitro on a recently i...
